Do you not have an athletic field close to you. I would imagine a couple of flights could be done before the police show up. The Shawnee Police Department know me as I instructed a few in RC flying. So when I go fly at the school yard 1/2 a block from me they sit in their car and watch. After a couple of flights I roll up the lines. I hear a beep of the siren and the flash of lights. Then they wave and are gone.

It must be nice to have friendly police. No such thing here.

Well, we have been run off some parking areas of schools with the racing planes. Especially when we were supposedly interfering with the TV reception of some character that lived several blocks away. The people that were just across the road from us were sitting on their porches and watching.

There is a county ordinance prohibiting anyone from flying a model on Miami-Dade county public school property. Plus all schools are completely fenced.

After seeing the weather radar and my flying partner reporting threatening weather in Sunrise, we decided to forget flying today. Guess what, didn't get a drop of rain. Now he tells me that he has to attend a funeral next Sunday. Things are not going well.

My wife felt sorry for me and volunteered to help me fly today, so I loaded the truck and headed for Markham Park. Light wind, overcast, cool. Flew the Dreamer Biplane/EVO 46. The muffler didn't agree with it. Crash. Sprung the gear. I then put up 3 flights with NoblARF 3/Brodak 40 using an old TF Super M 11-4 prop. That prop works really well.

I spent the afternoon at the Wings Over Miami aviation museum trying to help with a planned demo of models. I put up one flight to show the personnel what this type of flying was like. They want me to recruit more flyers. I will need to visit Markham Park on Saturday to connect with the combat flyers. I put up one flight On Fronkensteen 4 to show the people what the models were like. The wind was high and the turbulence was a monster. It was one of the worst flights I have had in a long time.

While my flying partner is attending a funeral, I had hoped to go flying with a backup flying partner. No such luck. Suddenly he had relatives show up so he had a family reunion. Here's hoping things go better next Sunday.

I took 4 planes with me today. NoblARF #3, Fronkensteen #4, and 2 clones from Donation 3#, The Buster clone and the Galaxy clone. It was very windy, so I figured to fly the clones. I crashed both of them. Both were tail heavy and unstable. The Buster clone did fairly well till a gust of wind got under the wing and I lost it. The wings parted from the fuselage. Seems the wing halves were glued to the fuselage with the spars inserted into square holes cut into the fuselage. There wasn't any glue on one of the spars. The Galaxy clone did better. It survived the first tail heavy flight. Then I put an old nylon 12-6 Prop on it, The combo of extra weight and flywheel action stabilized it greatly. About half way thru the second flight, a wind gust got me again and I totally lost it. It went straight in under full power. Very little damage except the elevator hinges.

One of my alternate flying partners wants to go flying tomorrow at Tamiami park. He wants to fly in a section of the park that has already cost me the wing of a Tutor 2. The meeting site is where we used to fly that the local government people placed a Cuban Memorial commemorating the Cuban takeover of Miami. Part 2 I put up one flight on the Stretched Galaxy/small shaft Johnson. Too much wind, not enough thrust, crash. Another broken fuselage.

Another year begins, another repair to do. I wonder how much punishment the Galaxy can endure.

Weather looked good at first. Put up a flight on NoblARF #2/OS 35s ABC. Handle slightly biased tword outside maneuvers, just enough to cause trouble.......SMASH! Broke the new heavy duty motor mounts. Took a big divot out of the field. Clunk is stuck in the front of the tank again. Put up 1 flight on the NoblARF #3/Brodak 40. Ran out of fuel inverted. Broken prop. THEN it started to rain.

My flying partner had some more family business today, so my wife volunteered to help me fly again. I put up 1 flight on the NoblARF #3/Brodak 40. The weather was clear with light winds, BUT, the wind was almost directly into the sun. I took out the Stretched Galaxy that I just finished the repair work on. Last night I slopped a coat of polyurethane on it to fuel proof it. First flight was a little weak, so the next 2 was with 20% nitro. Had to change the prop for the third flight. I think I'm going to reinstall the Combat Special for the next time.

Clear skies, no rain, light wind, cool. I put up 4 flights on the Galaxy/Johnson CS. It flies more like a combat plane than anything else. I am getting close to the surgery date. I MAY get one more Sunday, then .............../

I flew at the Wings over Miami Museum today. Perfect weather. I still ended up destroying the NoblARF #3 with the "one last flight" bit. Knocked the nose off the wing. This did give me a good view of the bellcrank. With the flaps in neutral, the bellcrank was off. With the flaps in neutral, the elevator was off. The entire control system is off. I might as well start over.
