Today marks the start of the fall season and the new flying season in Miami. Not that you would know that it's fall from the 90* temps. Now we wait for the first "cold" front to drop the temps here in Miami. Usually the first front is a sad excuse for a cold front, but we have no choice but to take whatever mother nature throws our way.

Well our temps are now down in the 70's of a day. Getting ready for the Ringmaster Marathon on October 5 & 6. Time to use up some fuel that has been just sitting around. We used over two gallons last year and ran out.

Light wind, not as warm as usual, no rain. I put up 3 flights on the NoblARF #2/OS 35S ABC. No crashes, but the plane keeps flipping on landing. I need some Trexler airwheels.

My usual flying partner has informed me that he has to visit family in Key West this Sunday. So, unless I can come up with another flying partner, no flying this Sunday.

Looks like I've lined up an alternate flying partner for this Sunday. If all goes well, I will be flying after all.

Today I put up only one successful flight. It was on the NoblARF #3/Brodak 40. I started with the Fronkensteen 4/OS LA 46. The "new" tank I put on it apparently has a problem. It is acting as though the pressure line was blocked. It starts off fine and in about 10 laps goes lean and quits. If it was a blockage, it wouldn't go 10 laps. More on this later. My alternate flying partner had worse luck. The first 2 planes he tried never made it off the ground. I won't go into details. The third got off with no trouble.
UPDATE: The tank problem was the filter. It stopped up, and it was a big filter.

No rain, a little cooler than usual, light and variable winds. I put up 1 flight on the Fronkensteen 4/LA 46. It ran the tank out but leaned out near the end. Need to clean the filter again. I got 2 flights on the NoblARF #3/Brodak 40. Did fine, but I may have a fuel leak at the engine. My flying partner put up several flights on the BiSlob but is having trouble getting a good engine run. The predator/FP35 had 1 ragged run. It needs a new NVA.

Well I made it out to the new circle again Sunday and put up some flights. Will post a picture here on the forum. But, right now I guess my flying will be curtilled again as they have started the injections on my knees.

Well, one thing it beats the alternative. It does get to be the pits tho.

I just got done servicing the NVA on my partners Predator/FP35. Spraybar was bent, needle spring damaged.
UPDATE: The first flight went well but resulted in an inverted landing. no damage.

Today I managed 3 flights on the Fronkensteen 4/LA 46. The Sig fuel agrees with the LA 46 very well. The first flight was a little rough, the last 2 were better. The second flight ended in an inverted landing. Seems the tank is sensitive to outside maneuvers when almost empty. I received another donation of airplanes from another builder/flyer. He likes to design his own. I need to steer him in the right direction. One of the planes was ready to fly, so we hooked it up and tried to start it. It wouldn't even fire. On close examination, the tank was too high so fuel would flow into the case and flood the engine.

Saturday flying: Light to medium wind, slightly cooler that usual, no rain. I put up 1 flight each on 3 different planes. I flew the large BiPlane/Evolution 46. It flew fairly well but flew outboard wing high when inverted. Inside loops were good, outside loops were good considering the wing. The EVO 46 was more than enough power. I flew the NoblARF #2/OS 35S ABC. It felt a little sluggish. Lastly I flew the Fronkensteen 4/LA 46. This felt a little sensitive.

No rain, slightly cooler, very windy. I put up 2 flights on the NoblARF #3/Brodak 40. On the second flight, I planted it inverted on the square 8's I'm going to blame the wind this time. My trick with the removable rudder paid off. It came off cleanly with no damage. I put up one flight on the large BiPlane/EVO 46. Trim tab correction helped. It still hunts badly upright. My flying partner broke another prop on the BiSlob. He wants more power. OS 35S is not enough.
