So much for forecasts. The day started started out overcast, went to a fine spray of a drizzle, then went to a light rain while the wind picked up. My partner managed one flight with a pancake crash. The Fox MK-6 is running better every flight. I put up one flight with the Predator/Johnson CS. Uniflo doesn't agree with this thing. Switched to the Barnstormer/McFox 35. One flight, ran out of fuel upwind, lost tension, came in with a long arcing crash. Broke the tail end off. Needs more tip weight.

I have begun to glue a few of the wrecks back together to have something to fly. Some are going to take more work than others.

Cool temps, no rain, light and variable wind. Put up 4 flights on the Galaxy/small shaft Johnson 35. Had to change props. The engine started to get a little ragged near the end. Most likely the plug is nearing the end. I used an old Anderson plug in it.

No flying this Sunday because of Markham Park being taken over for the Bikers Toy Run. I will try to fly in Miami this Saturday.
UPDATE: Flying cancelled when my flying partner turned up sick.

Next Sunday's long range forecast looks good right now. Here's hoping that it still looks good when Sunday gets here.
UPDATE: Still looks as good or better than it looked earlier. Here's hoping.
UPDATE: Today, not as good.

It's up to 20% rain chance. So much for accurate forecasting. Attachments:

Moderate temps, no rain, windy with variable direction. I put up 2 flights with the Galaxy/small shaft Johnson. replacement plug seems to work well. Second flight had a hard landing. Broke the fuselage at a previous repair. I need to fix this thing right. Put up 2 flights on the repaired Nobler/EVO 36. Heavy line tension. It got away from me and went straight in. Outboard tip exploded, repaired fuselage top disintegrated. Fuselage base is made of strong stuff, it is intact. Tail group seperated. This will fly again. My flying partner had no crashes, only one close call.

No rain, cool, light and variable wind. I put up 1 flight on the predator/Johnson CS. It did well but lost compression. I think I lost a head gasket. It also lost some covering. I put up 2 flights on the Barnstormer/McFox 35. I added a nose weight for the second flight. It helped a little.

Cool but tolerable. Windy. I put up 2 flights on the Shoestring clone/Fox Rocket hybrid. Last flight ended in a pancake crash, no damage. I put up 2 flights on the Fronkensteen 4/OS LA 46. First flight, a little rich, 4oz fuel, overrun. Second flight, 3oz fuel, dead lean, way overrun, too fast.

Today was cool(comparatively) but windy, no rain. I put up one flight on the Tutor 2 my partner lent me for a backup plane for the KOI. It still needs some work. The Fronkensteen needs a better prop. It struggles going into the hourglass. Even 3oz. of fuel gives me an overrun.

Last Sunday before the KOI. Forecast looks even better. 10%rain chance, 10mph wind. We'll see. UPDATE: I woke up Sunday to winds too high to go flying. I will only have one more chance to go flying before the KOI. Here's hoping for good conditions. Attachments:

I went out today as a warmup for the KOI. Overcast, light and variable wind, no rain. My backup plane failed totally. After flying reliably for months, 2 weeks ago, it refused to stay running. Last week, I put up one good flight with it. Today, It did one good flight and the second attempt it wouldn't stay running. I have to write off the KOI this year.

No rain, light and slightly variable wind, warm. I keep thinking, "this is winter?". I put up 3 flights on the Galaxy/small shaft Johnson. Power a little low, runs very steady. I need to try a different prop. Gets great fuel mileage.
