In response to several requests in the past and especially to the latest from Jetmex (through my e-mail) for a reprint of the picture accompanying the "Uncle Sancho and the Mexican Rocket Sled Program" story back on the now defunct Flightlines, here it is:

A couple things intrigue me about this picture. 1)That really appears to be a shot over the front hood of a late 70's, mid-80's Chevy pickup, so the vehicle is going in reverse. 2)Once it is up to speed, should the towing vehicle have to hit the brakes (highly probable if it is in reverse), just how was Uncle Sancho going to decelerate as fast or faster than the tow vehicle. I don't detect any drag chute there. It would be interesting to know the background to that picture. I would guess that mescal had something to do with it.
