I read that yesterday, according to one place I read its anything the flies remotely over a 1/2 lb. Of course its not about stopping anything, its about liberal feel good rules that punish people who don't abuse them. For myself, I'm not registering jack. Molon Labe

Since the FAA hasn't yet purchased a few hundred thousand rounds of ammunition and SWAT equipment, you should be safe. Hopefully they won't get to subcontract their enforcement to the Dept. of Education who does have SWAT teams. I guess in the meantime if your flights bother them, they'll just be sending F-15s over to check you out. Aim for the wing roots, Honcho! I love how the FAA chairman speaks of all model aircraft owners like this: So what does that mean, none of us were safe or responsible before the gummint got their hands around us? Pfffffttt!!! I wonder if this is going to kill AMA registrations. What would be the point if you have to register with the government to get your number to put on the planes?

Why am I chuckling at the thought of a ranch dotted by barrage balloons with contact adhesive all over the tethering strings?

Heheh, yeah I suppose I could get good at dodging them with my planes.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of a barrage balloon defense system designed to imperil any armed gummint drone that might attempt an overflight. You could always try chasing it with one of your planes, taking combat flying to a new level. Make sure you paint it all up nice with a big "Aloha Snackbar" on it so the gummint folks analyzing the last bit of video from their drone will have something different to think about.
