About those seven minutes that President Bush did nothing but carry on his presentation to the school kids: I saw his reaction on cable TV (not Michael Moore`s extrapolation, interpertation) and I saw him instruct his aide to do something (like fire up Airforce One, maybe get some more information before nuking someone). I`ve heard he was stunned. Well, so was I !
If anyone remembers the media blitz, could they please tell me how long it took before they knew what the heck had happened? And what action should he have taken while the Twin Towers were on the verge of collapse? The police and firefighters were there to do their thing, God bless them. They didn`t require a presidential order to try to take care of the problem.
I am so tired of this kind of BS being constantly being replayed, along with the flight suit on the aircraft carrier.
Please give it a rest and maybe the (re)election will let us get on with life.
Let the personal attacks begin.

Gary, some of us are capable of imagining ourselves in GW's place AT THE TIME OF THE ATTACKS and like you, can't fathom anything but shock and dismay, not KNOWING who or why might have perpetrated this attack (if it was an attack), and what the precedent was for a response. Some of us are so intellectually superior as to have no ability to transpose ourselves on any other level than intellectually in time or person; Hence the automatic hindsight self-righteousness. Pathetic. Sad. Frustrating, because there is no sense behind it.
I personally have no clue how long I would have sat there speechless, or ANY of the rest of you.

Because I don't know what the President was told, I don't know if his reaction was appropriate.

I'm not real happy with President Bush, primarily because of his stance on our border security (by the way, his aides, at least, know exactly how I feel. I wonder if the whiners here have bothered to tell him their feelings?) On this particular matter, however, I can't help but wonder what all of his detractors would have done.
It's one thing to complain about what this guy or that guy did or did not do, but I certainly don't hear any great solutions coming from the upper northleft coast! JohnC
