So how did everything go for combat last weekend?? Some friends and I were out on Lake Erie on a fishing charter out of Erieau, so I couldn't make it. I didn't get any cuts, but we did manage to pull in 15 salmon (steelheads for our American readers) There were a lot of American's there bass and pike fishing in the bay too

Ya missed a good one Patch. Beautiful day, 73degrees and light winds. Four rounds each of SSC and Open B. Seem to recall Kid Gilkey and Dr Evil carried off the good prizes. We flew two rounds of the proposed "Limited B" after the event (Open planes with stock mufflers and APC 10x3 or MA 10x4 props). Was very interesting - much more solid than SSC with speeds somewhere in between SSC and Open. We had a new flyer (12 yo kid) fly in the demo for the first time. I think we have a new Canuck butt kicker coming up (Assuming any of the Canucks head this way to have their butts kicked ;D ;D). Dr Evil, with what I thought was a wonderful gesture, gave the engine he won to this new kid (Doug Novelly) to help get him started. He was flying one of my old SPADS just to get in the air.

Woohoo - time for a bump, especially as we have ANOTHER meet coming up this weekend SSC on Saturday (18th) and Open-B plus 2610 on Sunday (19th). Somewhere in there we plan to fly a demo round or two of Limited-B. Patch - any of you Canadians daring to venture this way

I'm back from the cottage -- it was near Goderich. I had planned on visiting Strathroy to give a critique of Patch's prop-rocket project & to sharpen my non-existent combat skills, but when I tried to stuff a Blue Movie in the car the Dragon saw me doing it & realized that there was some more space. I'm definately taking a model next year -- a Seamaster should do very nicely. Patch has one, & a bit of seaplane dogfighting sounds rather silly -- which is just about right.

AHHH yes, - Floats at 20 paces! Deadly ;D ;D ;D Now lemme see, Goderich is less than three hours from us - dammit Pat, you were 2/3 of the way here As for Patch, he's wussed out of most of our events this year. I guess as Canadian points champ he daren't come fly with us in case we beat him!! Our last event of the season was another beautiful day - 70s and sunny with a light wind. We've been really lucky with weather this year! Lots of great combat. As for me, I actually got a couple of plaques (4th & 5th). Now the irony here is the new kid (Doug) was flying the Spad I gave him. He didn't have any sticky stuff for his wings, so I gave him some of mine. He then went and cut me - landed with my streamer! HMM, my plane, my sticky stuff, my streamer - wot's wrong with this picture ;D ;D

Hi Keith. I couldn't get to Detroit (or Strathroy) this trip because of previously arranged golf & Dragon commitments, plus no room for a plane (Dragon requires more stuff than any two cars can carry). Too bad -- I want to see the look on your slightly less elderly face when I wax your wings like the 12 yr old. ;D A couple of weeks or so ago, I noticed that according to the incredibly tallented & world-wise young yahoos who inhabit RCCANADA, guys like us are too old & incompetent to play with dangerous toys like model airplanes. Thats your 12 yr old problem -- you weren't using your treacherous old brain -- you should have been more creative & given him some teflon tape instead of the sticky stuff -- since kids know everything without being taught, he wouldn't have noticed the difference. ;D ;D ;D As for Patch, I suspect that as Canadian points champion, he has nothing more to prove. Additionally, being on MAAC's watch list as a non-conformist, he would risk being stripped of his maple-flavoured underwear by MAAC if he dared to carry the flag next door & fraternize with foreign agitators (that would be you : .

wussed out eh? Merely a strategic move......well O.K. with work, weather and family, I haven't done much flying this year, and with the idiotic rules, my ambition has dwindled somewhat.
Why would I want to fly with the dangerous inferior rules of the proven RCCA when I can fly by the "safe" tottaly unproven, illogical rules passed by a bunch of amatuers?
me a MAAC non-conformist? No, just a logical thinker who has higher standards than to want to kiss a$$ to self rightous pompous individuals for a pat on the back.
See the new WWI rules? what a joke! for people who claim to be scale purist, I see "about 1/8 scale" it's OK to have 1/6 wings on a about 1/8 fuse..........oh my.......I hope Canada legalizes marijiana soon........I need a toke!
I will get out of this rut for next season and will be making a scene on both the American and Canadian circuits (of course only the RCCA circuit counts for anybody that wants real competition and not a bunch of little whiney babies who implement rules under a falsehood of safety and "scale" or what a "fighter" is (even if it's the most mass produced IL-2) to shadow the real reason of limiting competition)
anyhow, enough for now.. I'm going to go eat my undies before they get confiscated

Patch, I object to your use of the term "pat on the back" --- I have nothing to do with MAAC's backside
