Nobler, $8.95. Fox 35, $15.95. That feels like a lifetime ago.

Just noticed the date on one of the pages. May 1959, just finished up my junior year of high school. Also finished my Nobler the folks got me for Christmas. Had to wait on the kit as it was not available at the time they ordered it. Powered mine with McCoy Redhead 35. Had one of the Dmeco round tanks in it. All of 6 ounces which was great as the McCoy had many flights on it. Starting procedure was to put three drops 3-in-1 oil. Three drop of fuel all in exhaust stack. Flip a couple of times. Prime intake, hook up battery and start it. Glad I did not know what I know now as the plane and engine combo gave me a lot of flying time. Of course if all of us had known the green box Nobler would be what its worth today. But, $8.95 was a fortune to me back then. Later, DOC Holliday

According to the cost of living calculator, $8.95 in 1959 = $59.79 in 2005, and $15.95 = $106.55. www.aier.org/colcalc.htmlSo a kit costs more today, but a Fox 35 costs less than it did in 1959. ( I think a Fox 35 costs less. I haven't checked, as I still have two, bought on sale, 12.95 each, and don't need another ) Jim
