I've tried ssw twice today on two different computers and both times it locked up my machines. Anyone else having problems? And just to do something different, went out with a friend and flew all afternoon- Oriental profile, and Banshee. Sometimes I think I'm staying on the forums to the exclusion of my planes. New Year's resolution: don't talk, just fly. Best regards, dale g

Ryan (aka Prop Buster) had problems last night. It would not let either one of us log on. We would read the boards just fine. Just will not let him log on. His computer is the only one in the house running XP. I will have to fix it ASAP.

I'm able to get on ssw on one PC by not using "favorites"-just typing in stuka stunt and doing a search. I was able to delete the temp files and that cleared the other PC up just fine. When I try to delete the temps on this one, it locks up and I get a IE shut down and a note to notify MS. One of my son in laws will get me fixed up this weekend. Staying off ssw has allowed me to get some work done on my new Impcat wing. Thanks, guys. dg

Just a warning guys and gals, from experiance, you are putting your job in jepardy using your work computor. Of course if you own the business, it doesn't matter. SBC gave one warning. Now I am retired.

Biggest is that you do not have to suffer the instability, security risks and just plain general malaise of using Microsoft software. The best place to go is into the Mozilla world. You can get either the Mozilla suite (bundled browser, mail application, etc.) or (better) you can use Firefox (browser) and Thunderbird(mail app) as separate applications. One significant add-on that you can install is a neat little tool called "adblock". It installs like a plugin and gives you the ability to simply block advertising from ever being downloaded. The controls allow it to be set on a site-by-site basis and really works well. As an example, I was puzzled about the complaints of the Google ads since I didn't see them. Went to the adblock controls and found that I had alrady turned them off in some previous visit to the site. And, yes, Mozilla and Firefox and Thunderbird all run very nicely on Windoze machines. Regards, Bill Lee

I'm getting 404 type errors for the forums. The Home SSW site is doing fine, but not the forums. It's 10:45 PM, CDST, and I've tried getting a connection there a couple of different times since 10:00 PM.

I believe that Leonard said that he was due for a server change, and if anything went wrong, they might be down for a while.

(snip) .. If anything went wrong, they might be down for a while. The way I see it, although there have been no major outages on his server in a long while that I've seen, there oughtta be. And be offline long enough for the sorehead type blowhards to find somewhere else to vent. SSW hasn't been fun at all, at least not for me, since Leonard showed what looked to be his weak backbone to let the crazies/nasties go full at it, kicking Reagan's coffin like nobody's business the week he was buried. About VSC, this was my answer to our friend Marvin: www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=42621&messageid=1109342289

I don't understand non-modeling politics being allowed on any modeling forum. It is divisive to no benefit to model aviation.
Hey Kiwi, going out to the VSC?

Best I can see the situation, "nobody is right", both primary "sides" are acting out of emotion, instead of sticking to facts.

Just to add another dimension to the SSW "outages"....something went wrong with my phone lines this morning. Broadband simply would NOT connect...dial up lasted anything up to about 15 minutes. I couldn't even get mail from my own ISP. No google, no nothing....all I could get was SSW!!!! Without fail...perfectly!

Did you hit refresh? If everything else fails, but you could get Stuka it almost sounds like you were loading that from memory. Hate it when the PC world decides it's gonna stop and let ya off, even for a bit. Takes about 15 minutes before I can think of something like, go build, read a book, turn on the TV.
