A few yeas ago I saw a line wrap construction using CA glue and heatshrink tube, is this a viable method? How have they proven to work out? I am not in any way advocating or endorsing this method of line construction.

Please...
Get out your AMA Manual and read/study the instructions on line wrapping.
There are two or three viable methods for this task but none have proven better than the AMA standard.
Also, glues tend to create hard spots at the very places where the lines need to flex, causing breaksge.
Be carefull. There are plenty of guys who will tell you what worked for them and few who'll tell you what didn't and why.

If you just want to finish the wrap so it looks neater, use RTV, GOOP or something like it so it wont get stiff. A lot of folks just use heat shrink or a combination of both. If you can find heat shrink in two different colors, you can color code your up and down lines.

The problem with opaque heat shrink is that you can't see what is going on inside it. I understand there is clear heatshrink. It is not necessary to put anything on wrapped terminals made like the AMA rulebook shows.

I have always used crimping to finish line ends. As with anything, done properly, it will work fine. I used to wrap leadouts, then sweat solder the wrapping wire only. lately I have used crimping on them too. So far, I have yet to have a crimp fail.
