Does anyone out there have any experience with the old Plastikote props. I have some new ones but I have never tried to run them. I have already been hit with a shed prop blade.

I've run plasticoats for years with no problem. They are good props. I don't run the one or two that I have today because they can't be easily replaced.

Do you think they would survive the high RPM of todays engines?

Years ago I got some in a bucket of junk at a garage sale, there was an ok cub .049. a Torp .09. five or six fuel tanks about six plasticote props in the 7" to 8" range, among other things, all for $.50. The Cub I sold for $5, still have the torp .09. But the best part of the deal, Glen Dye spotted the props in my flight kit, asked me how much I wanted for them? Traded for a gallon of gas and two cards of plugs.
He wanted them for patterns for glass props.

I don't see why not, we used them for speed and combat for a lot of years. Walter

The props I picked up are 10-4. I thought they might do well on either my Dooling .29, or my Magnum 25GP. They came in their original display box.

I was going to reply to the newest thread, about Hurricane Frances (if "Francis", it's a boy hurricane), and about the odds of three in one year in Florida. But there is something odd about that thread. I don't see a Lock Symbol, but there was no "Reply" option, and the forum index doesn't show any replies, although there were several. Meanwhile, I used 10-4 Plasticotes on 19-25 size engines when Tornado was making those, or at least on the higher rpm engines from that displacement range. These days, I sometimes use APC 10-4's on engines as large as 40's.

Same observation about the "Hurricane" thread, so I'll post here: I'll be keeping you Florida guys in my prayers. Hope it's not as bad as it looks.

When I checked the thread, it was perfectly normal. If the problem persists, I will report it to the webmaster.
