I got to wondering what engines were being used on those bikes. The old Jacobs, Lycoming and Continental engines are larger in diameter than those shown and probably too heavy to be useful. I think those are Rotec R2800 (no that's not the displacement) 110 HP radials. www.rotecradialengines.com/They'd sure be more adaptable to a motorcycle, that's for sure!

I believe you're right Jaimie. When I found the article about Jesse James bike it stated the engine was from Australia. After doing a little search I hit on the same site, Rotex. I don't know about J.J.s engineering though. I'd think one crack of the throttle and the torque would toss that thing on it's side. What do you think?

I don't know what kind of torque an engine that size would put out. I'm going to guess that the transmission and drive unit would take up some of it, and that big mother tire in the back probably helps but I bet that machine could get pretty scary on wet pavement of you got on it too hard...I've seen a lot of those engines in 3/4 and 7/8 scale replica airplanes, like these: www.airdromeaeroplanes.com/Wonder where he's going to put the prop? ;D
