For what it's worth. . . .
I found an inexpensive wireless back-up camera/moniter at Costco retailing for $89.95. I checked the web and it's out there for up to $150. The product name is VR-3 (for virtual reality). The camera is wired into the backup lights and mounts as a license plate frame. I mounted it on my existing black frame - the camera is also black with the lens the size of a nickel. With flat black on black, it can hardly be seen (vandalism).
The camera (transmitter) and the color TV moniter (receiver) is wireless. The only wiring is a tie-in with the backup lights. The moniter plugs into the cigarette lighter on the dash
Had someone install it for fifty bucks and it works very well. The picture from the rear is wide angle. I tried it at night with backup lights on and it's very good. Sitting in a parking lot at night watching headlights passing by the rear is like watching a live news shot on home television.
I drive a GMC Savana Explorer conversion van (my other car is a Honda Civic) and this is a must-have!

Sunday, 1/7, after starting my van in a parking lot at a museum displaying model trains with TV cameras attached to the layout, the picture of a train moving through the model city and industrial area suddenly appeared on the TV screen inside my van's wireless backup system. This happened while the gear shift was in Park. I placed it in Reverse and the picture displayed the scene behind my van. Back to Park and then to Drive the train appeared again. The backup system came with a warning about interference, but it didn't include entertainment.
