OK, just to start things here. I'm putting together a 24" FFHLG. It's going to be my first experiment with discus launching and I want to add a swinging weight DT.
I once had a "recipe" for dethermalizing fuse, but I've lost it.
Anyone got a good recipe for DT fuse using common household items and materials from the drug/hardware/grocery store?

Is it still OK to use dethermalizer fuse? What about fire risk (maybe just in Calif, BC & France)?

I don't think there is a problem as long as you have a proper snuffer tube.

I think Sig still sells it. I probably have a roll somewhere. I frankly don't know what kind of cord it is, and I don't think it is treated. The thing we used to use was potassium nitrate, saltpeter, which is used in curing meat and canning. Modern stuff includes Tommy Toy timers and silly putty timers. My guess would be if you are going to discus launch a free flight HL glider you are going to need some auto surfaces to make it work.

DT fuse is still available from Campbell's Custom Kits in Muncie Indianna, I think a web search would turn up a phone number. Lee's a good guy and supplies all sorts of FF goodies including a nice line of kits.

Seems to me that FAI Model Supply in Sayre , Pa carried a fuse that is slightly smaller in diameter than the Sig. It fits 1/4" snuffer tubes easier. The July or August Flying Model Magazine FF column had a tip showing wrapping the end of the fuse with an aluminum band might let you get away with eliminating the weight of the snuffer tube.

Thanks Chris,
Been a while, since what ever that other forum was.
The smaller fuse is British, Lee carries them both. I like the Brit fuse, it seems a little (very little) more consistant. I use the larger SIG fuse as lighter punk
