The Lone Star Flight Museum held their annual fall air show this past Sunday, though there was very little air in the show. The weather was pretty bad--5-800 foot ceilings with the wind gusting to 20kts across the main runway. When we arrived, they were still discussing whether to fly or not, and that question was answered a little later when the ceiling dropped and it started raining. But it's never a wasted trip, so: The flightline--SBD Dauntless, P-47 Thunderbolt, Hawker Sea Fury and an F4U Corsair. There's a Steen Skybolt and a J-3 Cub at the far end. A nice looking Harvard MkIII. Hawker Sea Fury racer. I can never pass up a chance to plug my home state! This is one of the nicest paint jobs I've seen a quite a while. Another one near and dear to my heart. Continental's DC-3 on the ramp, waiting to haul a load of passengers. Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer. This one's been under restoration for the last 10 or so years. There's a good "before" shot of this plane on my website. A replica 8th AF briefing room located in the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame. The walls are covered with old recognition posters. A B-17 gunner in full flight gear. He's wearing a steel helmet over the leather one, makes you wonder.... The museum's B-17 "Thunderbird" and a PBJ Mitchell were in attendance as well.
