It looks like the B-17 "Memphis Belle" will be moving to a new home in the near future. Seems the USAF Museum wants her back, citing a need to relocate all the museum's assets to support the museum's expansion. The city and surviving crew members are objecting, but since the "Belle" is in need of some major work, I can see the reason for the move. A full restoration will take place, and then the bomber will put on display in Dayton. www.memphisbelle.com/

Well, I guess that we won't be seeing much of 'The Belle' after that!
Very unfortunate for us Bird lovers.
I think that We-the-People take better care of these artifacts than the USG does.
From what I've seen, they'll restore her and then let her sit on the ramp and rot!

I don't think that will be the case here. The USAF Museum seems to take pretty good care of their airplanes, given that they have many one of a kind machines to maintain. I haven't been there yet, but friends of mine who have tell me the collection is second to none, and I think the Belle will be in good hands and in good company there.
