Today the RC Club I belong to gave a demonstration at a little (11 students, grades 1 thru 8) school out in the boonies, These kids are the sons and daughters of ranchers and/or cowboys and are really getting a good education foundation with an enormous amount of one-on-one teaching from two extrremely dedicated ladies.
Anyway, one of our members flies the Hunter and Predator planes for the Army (started flying RC when he was 3, his dad claims). We had these kids, both boys and girls absolutely spellbound with 3D helicopter AND fixed-wing, along with a few sport-types thrown in... it was an absolute blast, believe me! And then...
We were winding down, and Eric was showing off with a giant-size 3-D when one of the kids yells " HEY! LOOK UP THERE!!!" We looked at where he was pointing and I couldn't believe my old eyes... over to the north east at about15,000 to 20,000 feet, with the sun glinting off them were TWO tankers, one with 5 waiting and a hookup and the other had three waiting and a hookup!
Now I spent twenty years in the Air Force and never once saw a refueling, and then, while we're showing a bunch of kids how much fun airplanes can be, we're all treated to a really neat air show... Makes ya wonder about coincedences at the least! JohnC

That is neat. Stuff like that where you have to be at the right palce and timne doesn't happen very often. We live on what must be a way point for the airlift training wing at Warren airbase in Cheyenne. We get lots of of C130 traffic, once in a while they come though low hugging terrain, but the bets was one time one of them started dropping flares, I had never seen flares being deployed in person, that was kind of neat.
