Was building a out of production Global kit, dog was barking, phone was ringing, and wife was yapping in my ear about something. Had my parts laid out on the bench and picked up F-1 & F-1 and glued together instead of F-1 & F-2. Realised my mistake about 5 minutes later so out side I went with the glued parts and had to work like a dog with ace tone, water, and a couple of screw drivers till 1/2 hour later finally got them apart. Grabbed some books off the shelf and weighted them down to dry straight. Luckly they look pretty good and am able to use them with a bit of sanding off the old dried glue. I've allways read about making two right wings, but never thought any one could be so screwed up to do so, but have changed my mind on that real quick. Hope to do better with the rest of the build and will really pay attention when building the wings lol.

Yaay, a model airplane post!
The one thing good about building two right wings, or two of the same fuselage side is that you have a good excuse to buy another kit!
I ended up with two Falcon 56's that way once. Of course the problem was that I never really was fond of the way either of them flew...
On the practical side, I have found that if I used epoxy or CA I can simply leave the parts soaking in an Acetone bath for awhile and they will come apart on thier own without much muss or fuss, leaving the parts as good as new.
I once took apart a whole wing panel from an Aquila sailplane this way.
I have a couple of rubbermaid or "tupperware" type containers in various shapes that I can fill with acetone and seal up for this purpose. Best to have them on hand ahead of time, and to have your own. My wife was not real happy with me the last time I used one out of the kitchen for this. (Like the crock pot you use to clean engines, don't try to use them for food ever again)

Funny you should mention two planes out of one, CT. In amongst all that airplane stuff that I inherited this last January I found a Spirit 100 kit - with two fuselages. When I asked my friend's widow why, she told me he had intended to use the second wing components and then had decided to just make two separate planes.
I'm going to complete them for him... just got one more set of wings to finish. JohnC

I once glued up two left hand fuselage sides. Went to make a replacement. Made another left hand side. Took the rest of the afternoon off.

Thank you, Chris. I think it was a hint from Phil Brown that lead me over here. It's a very nice little forum and I will look in more often. Kelvin

Just avoid the Skeeter Pond until you understand that 99% of the razzing there is not seriously intended!
The people here really do know alot about RC, but because we are such a prickly bunch, I think we scare people away. I'm as guilty of pricklyness as anyone...mea culpa!

Actually, I'm building one too Jaime. I today I glued two ribs to the wing of my little Cub...the one I've been working on for three years now.

Wow building, I looked at my runway full of weeds today wondering where the summer went. But this is just getting to the good flying weather, I may get some flight time yet. Last time I did something like that glued some 1/2 ribs in the wrong place, went to the trouble of tracing new ones and cut them out and glued them in the wrong place too. Made for a lot of sanding with about as much cussing.

Then, of course, there was the time my partner and I drove 90 miles one way to a Q-500 race and left all the transmitters at home....Sometimes I think I could run for the Presidency of the nation of Stupid and win going away.

OK Here is a new one maybe for you hard working builders hehehe i started to build a stick 40 plane and after 3 months of cutting glueing and and just looking at the way they are made anyway i decided to cut off 7inches of the fuse makeing it a rear engine half stick pusher now all the time i was doing this it was from scratch had now plans but had a fuse done now i have never build a wing in my life time and went to a sale last week and there setting all alone was a all foam cox 56 inch wing from a plane i cant remember the name now for anything.and so i just started to cover the wing in a very light balsa now its starting to look something like a wild plane.cool site

Welcome aboard. We are sort of the Bowery Boys of model airplane forums, although most of the regulars here actually do know one heck of a lot about model airplanes, we don't go around trying to impress everyone about how darn smart and experienced we are. We don't take ourselves very seriously, we just like to build stuff that flys, or try to anyway.
We don't mind a few crashes. We like to hear about people who experiment with stuff. We don't get all huffy puffy when someone wants to try to figure out this stuff on their own without the benefit of a club or an instructor, although most of us are happy to instruct if we find a beginner that really wants some help.
Anyway, as you put your latest creation together, let us know how it's going. Post questions if you got 'em, and the main thing, HAVE FUN.
Cheers,
Chris
