All this time they've assured me that I'd feel like a new man after the surgery....I wonder if doctors are like used car salesmen?

I believe I am getting very close to being able to drive. Another couple of months and I should be able to fly. Time will tell.

I see I have not been on here lately. Hope the hip doesn't give you too many problems. Just follow your therapists orders and you will be back out. Take care.

A few days ago I attempted to drive. First, the truck. It was extremely difficult to raise my leg to go from the gas to the brake. Not good. Second, the Honda. No problem driving the Honda. The problem is I can barely manage to get out of the thing. The therapist says the Honda is my first choice.

I now find myself able to negotiate the back stairs which allows me to access the garage/workshop and work on my models. Last week I did the first work on a model since the surgery. I'll keep it simple for now and get into the heavier work later.

The Physical Therapy seem to be able to find new ways to torture me. Now it's endurance training. They said I was going to hurt the next day. They were right. I can barely walk.

I have seen the surgeon. He is happy with my progress. He officially cleared me to drive. All restrictions come off in about 3 weeks. I still can't tie my right shoe. I may try to fly in another month. I hope my leg is strong enough. Before I try to fly, I will go out with my flying partner to help him fly and get the feel of that 45 minute drive the the field. After that session, I will hopefully make my last post in this thread and go back to posting flying related stuff, if there is anyone left out there.

Well, stay with it and you will get there. Just went in for the 6 month check up. They have a new doctor and new people. Was suggested I do the injections again. I told her if it helps as much as the first time I'm for it. She was holding my knees and having me bend them and then straighten them out several times. Was asked if I could feel the grinding or noise of the joints. I told her I'm mostly deaf and can't hear them, but once in a while I could feel them. Especially the right knee make a popping noise every so often. Anyway, Garf don't push too hard.

I am done with the physical therapy. The 3 months of restrictions come off after another week. This still leaves me unable to put on my right sock or shoe or tie my right laces until I stretch out the muscles of my right leg and lower back to where they were. Then there is flying. I am left to figure this out for myself.

...Then there is flying. I am left to figure this out for myself. You might want to have your helper be ready to take the handle...just in case. Good luck when that time comes. George

Well I have started the second session of injections on my knees. New people and new formula. supposed to be 5 weeks total and both knees at the same time. The first day last Thursday was not fun as the lady doctor had my right knee hurting like it had not hurt before. But by Friday evening I went to the stock car races and Saturday mowed my grass and the daughters. Then went and put in a couple of flights on the newest S-1 Ringmaster. Otherwise the knees feel good as long as I keep moving. By the way even if you short tank the plane make sure it will hold a rich setting. Nothing like a Fox .35 Stunt thinking it is a rat race engine after about a dozen laps. I did loops, eights and wingovers trying to keep my balance.

That is something to think about. The Galaxy has a Johnson combat special and the Fronkensteen 4 has an LA 46. If they decide to lean out, it could be loads of fun. I could substitute smaller tanks for the first few sessions. I have a lot of tanks.
