I have been down a while due to hip replacement surgery. This one was a little rough. I can't even get down the stairs it takes to get to the garage/workshop. I can't drive for at least 4 weeks from the surgery and I can't fly for a lot longer.

I can now negotiate the rear stairs to get to the workshop. Last week I did my first work on a model since the surgery. It wasn't much, but it was a start. Next will be driving.

Well now you have no excuse for building. I was out Saturday evening putting test flights on the King Sweep. Just need toad nose weight and a little trim to get the wings completely level from my view point. At least now I can do loops, 8's and inverted with out too much trouble. In fact as I type this the grandson and I just got home from opening day at the car racing track. Even went down and talked to a couple of drivers. Of course on the way back to the old Ford I had to take a break to ease the knees a little. Nothing like it was this time last year. Did I say it only takes less than half the time to get from the circle to the Ford and back to the circle.
So now you take care with that hip.

I now need to go thru the shop and decide what needs the least work to make flyable. I have the remains of the BiPlane that I had to trash because it was unstable. The leadouts and controls are in the lower wing, so I removed the upper wing. This thing will fly like a combat model. I have a rough unfinished Banshee that looks promising. I have a rough Cosmic Wind that someone gave me. I have a couple of Tutor 2 models in unknown condition plus the one I tore the outboard wing off of by flying into a tree. I have a clone of a winder that needs some warp removal. This plus much more including 2 wrecked NoblARF's and 2 wrecked converted profile NoblARF's. Plenty of choices.

My current plan is in 3 to 4 weeks, to go out to the flying site to help my flying partner fly and get the feel of the field and the 45 minute trip driving the truck to the field. After that, I will decide when I will attempt to fly. Now to prepare some junkers.

Hey, you can practice flying in the back yard using your imagination for a plane and lines. Just don't push it. I'm still working on balance. Last time out I finally got the King Sweep through a full pattern with out stumbling all over the place. David needs to get permission for us to put down a hard center pad.

The long range forecast for next Sunday says 40% chance of rain. We however know just how accurate they are. Regardless, I will shoot for the next Sunday afterward and hope the weather cooperates. Now to prep a few wrecks that are expendable, charge the batteries, and mix a fresh quart of fuel.
UPDATE: Now the weather report says partly cloudy with 13 mph winds for this Sunday. I just got a call from my flying partner saying this Sunday is cancelled. Mothers day.

No rain, relatively cool, slightly windy. The trip to the field was a little rough. I haven't driven that route for nearly 4 months. I didn't fly but I helped my flying partner fly. He put up 1 flight on the predator and lost some covering, then put one flight on the BiSlob and lost the landing gear. I did better than I thought I would considering all I've been thru. I may try to fly next time.

90*+, no rain, very little wind. I have been down for nearly 4 months so my resistance to heat is gone. Between flights I had to start the truck and sit in the A/C. I put up 3 flights on the Galaxy. The third flight I had mixture problems and broke a prop. My flying partner put a good flight up on the predator, then went to the BiSlob for 3 flights. I put a MA 11-5 prop on it which worked very well. All in all, a good day. Wednesday, I go in for a new Pacemaker, so I will be down till the incision heals. By then we will be solidly into the Miami summer. Not fun. I may have to shift to the the same methods as the people in the desert do. I will try it and see what happens.

Well, I have been following this on the other forum. So I hope all is well so you can get back out. Last weekend I did more walking than normal at the contest, but I didn't feel up to it as my texted Sunday as I was getting the planes ready that her youngest sister didn't make it. We knew she was not in very good shape, but there was always hope. Anyway take care of yourself. I just had my fifth injections for this term. Now to wait for the follow up in 6 weeks.

It's no fun getting old, but it still beats the alternative.

I plan to try to fly this Sunday. It is 18 days since the replacement of my pacemaker. I'm going to take a few junkers and see what happens. Attachments:

Hot, no rain, light breeze. I put up 1 flight and a couple of attempts on the Galaxy, but the engine wouldn't cooperate. I need to replace the tank. It needs to be bigger anyway. My flying partner had his teenage son with him today and the son attempted to fly the Galaxy clone with predictable results. My partner put up a good flight on the Predator, then tried to fly the BiSlob. After a couple of failed attempts at power touch and goes, he called it a day.

Its good you are getting out. Wind and rain since I got home from Brodaks. 854 miles one way. I felt good and did not stop for an over night. Would have got home sooner, but several construction areas were parking lots or moving too slow. Amazing how many miles can be covered when it is not raining.

Nothing worse on a long car trip than heavy rain.
