Where, oh where are you finding these things? Your #2a has to be one of the first model engines; set up like larger (read: "real") IC engines. Always interesting to see them.

Concerning #2a, is that can on the back an air cleaner? Or oil injector? The front can is plainly the fuel tank.

Being gravity feed, it would have to be a float tank, otherwise it would flood.
