Some time back I scratch built a Shark 15 for a TD 09. I had a lot of fun with it; flew it in Classic at the VSC in 1999. Finally it suffered too many pilot errors. I'm building another from the Walter Umland laser-cut kit. It is going together very well. It is a fussy airplane to build, with exterior wing and tail gussets, and the kit has simplified the structuaral design in minor pleasing ways. The only criticism I have of the kit is that the four internal gussets for the wingtips are cut with the grain running the wrong way, so I replaced them. I modified the controls to use a 4-inch wooden bellcrank like I had in my original Shark 15. Also adjustable leadouts and tip weight box. I'm using the old faithful TD 09 mounted on aluminum pads. I also have two Cipolla 09 diesels and want to swap them in at some later date. It is going to be covered in yellow; tissue on the tail, silk on the fuselage, and plyspan on the wings. I'll trim it similar to the original picture on the plan in either red or blue, with black tissue AMA numbers and Shark on the wing. I'll make up a set of 55 foot 012 lines for it. If my ambition holds out, I'll get the wing and fuselage covered today and assemble it tomorrow. On the other hand, a flying buddy just called and I'll probably go flying this afternoon, thus setting the project back.

Well, I finally finished the Shark 15. A picture is posted on the PAMPA website in the picture gallery under classic.
I've flown it four times. First flight, I forgot to tighten the bolt on the leadout slider, so I flew around level with the leadouts at the back of the slot and the airplane being yawed out a bunch. Also the engine was not as tight as it should have been. Second flight with the leadouts moved forward, sitll not far enough, engine sitill loose. Did a couple of round maneuvers and called it a day. Next day with tight engine and leadouts more forward. it flew fine through some loops and squares. Wings level upright and inverted. Last flight did a full pattern with no surprizes.
Looks like it will be fine.
