I am looking for plans for a simple easy to build slow combat plane to teach my boys how to fly combat. I had a solid combat wing .049 that I built as a kid but never had any help flying it. It got lost along the way.
Anyone have a set of plans?
Thanks Paul

Do you want 1/2a, 35 size or some of each?
Tight lines,

Hey Tom, I guess 1/2a's to start with. The boys want to learn how to fly combat.
Thanks Paul

You might consider the Hacker from the Corehouse. I think they are 2 for $24 or something like that. Very easy to build and tough. We fool around with them as 1/2A combat and work great.

Flying Models, Model Airplane News, and Model Aviation all seem to have many plans available that should fit your needs.

I don't think that Paul has those years of magazines lying around to find all of those available plans.

Hey Kreth,
Glad to see some new blood. I sent Paul a CD full of plans the weekend after he left his request. I think he is set for now but I'm sure he will chime in if he needs some more. I'm the one that guessed the name of your "mystery" airplane over on the SSW site.
I'm glad to see paul is getting his kids involved in flying and enjoy reading "Propbuster's" posts. I hope to be able to visit Paul one of these days and hope to meet you too.
Tight lines,
Tom Perry

The Hacker that Phil offers is a terrific 1/2a combat plane...and mighty hard to ruin...I believe that Phil sells them two to a box? With fild and stuff...plus, he'll give you sound advice.
See Ya peabody

The British 1/2-As are actually for .09 engines, but you can probably power them just fine with today's BigMig .061s. My choice for beginning to fly Combat would be the Platter on www.aeromaniacs.com, enlarged to 16" diameter and made out of 3mm Coroplast. Hard to destroy, though I must admit, I haven't seen one bellcranked, yet. With a BigMig .061 and a cut down Tornado Tempest 5x3, they go plenty fast, you might even consider 42 foot .012 lines.
