So this is the new home of the Flightlines orphans, huh? I sure did enjoy it until the model airplane content dried up. Now it seems there's too many sites to check into very often, RCGroups seems to be the electric and soaring headquarters, RCU for advertisements. Now there's RCPowerMag.com with articles including plane reviews by RCReport's Dick Pettit. Too many to browse unless the weather's just plain horrible.
Anyway, we've had a fun flying season here on the Idaho-Wyoming boundary. My GreatPlanes Spacewalker is flying better than ever, and my 2nd Hog-Bipe got lots of airtime. After finally finishing the Pica Jungmeister, it got lots of satisfying flights. Another project that had been on hold got flown, the Cermark Pitts Special, and it's a great flying model. So, plenty of glow fuel has been burned, and without major disasters. The Hog-Bipe suffered a minor disaster, however. The landing gear tore out after hitting some stuff hidden in the grass. Come to find out, the whole front end is oil soaked. Rats. I guess this winter it'll get a new front end that's round for another go at a round-cowled Hog!
Also I've discovered electrics, like everybody else. Been flying the tiny GWS Tiger Moth, I like it a lot. Also the GWS Formosa with Himax brushless power, what amazing performance from a 14 oz. airplane! Lately I've been zooming a Multiplex Microjet around the neighborhood. It really keeps me hoppin, trying to keep up!
Current projects are a Pica 1/6 Waco biplane and a 1/3 Sig Spacewalker. The Waco fuselage and tail surfaces are framed and I'm planning to finish it for next spring. The Spacewalker was a recent choice after having an unusually great time flying the GP version. The plan is for it to be powered by my first gasser, something like a First Place Engines 3.2 or G-46? Still learning about gassers and have many months and lots of building before an engine choice is needed.
Well, there's the news from the Teton Basin. Hope you're all enjoying the fall. It's been a great time to not be vacationing in Florida.
