I've always had trouble with this but discovered this recently....
I build my own arrows for hunting and use a glue called "Fletch-tite" to attach feathers to aluminum arrow shafts. It is designed to attach real feathers or plastic vanes to aluminum or wood arrow shafts. Seemed to me it might be ideal for canopys. I tested it out and it works great. Dries fast and is very strong. You can find it at any archery / hunting shop.
Regards,
Mike

Yes and yes. It also comes with a long thin "nozzle" so that you can put the glue exactly where you want it and not get it everywhere.

Great tip -- thanks. I'm about to fabricate a canopy, & I'll give it a try.

It has to be better than RC56. That stuff is marketed for canopies but softens to uselessness on a humid day.

Mike, is it safe to conclude that Fletch-Tite is immune to burned methanol and nitromethane?

I have not had any trouble with it Chris. My "test" bed was the front plastic on a Kadet Senior. It's had fuel all over it and has held tight.

POW! I just flattened my forehead a little bit more! Prior to my coming back to Airplanes as a hobby, I was a professional archer for almost twenty years... made a fair living from it in fact, until ol' Esteban from Mexico City decided he wanted to pass me as I made a left turn.
Anyway, when I sold my archery shop, there were a few things left such as miscellaneous aluminum and carbon arrow shafts (good for pushrods and stiffening some parts. But for some reason, I just didn't connect Fletchtite with canopy glue! Thanks for waking me up, Wagon1...it's a pretty nice Christmas present! Merry Christmas to you! JohnC
Oh, by the way guys, be careful of the Fletchtite at China Mart- it can be so old it won't come out of the tube!
