Ah, yes, I know that little stretch of beach well.
People used to stand on that road to watch the airplanes take off and land and I guess they still do.
I once blew a trench across that beach and made a rooster tail well out into the bay as a result of being suckered into taking off downwind by a captain who told me that it was calm when I asked him for the wind just prior to advancing the power levers.
I knew things weren't going well when the people lining that road to watch us take off over them (starting from the opposite end as the 747 depicted in the video) started to run for their lives.
There were no barriers on the road at that time. They have obviously been erected since the last time I was there (in 1990) to give some measure of protection to the people on the road and the beach but a 747 will still move more air than those puny barriers can handle.
A JT8D-7 on a 727 puts out about 14,000 Lbs of static thrust on a standard day and will move about 310 Lbs of air through itself every second at takeoff thrust. That is about the same weight of air as a Chevy short block.
One Chevy short block coming out of the tail pipe at about 1440 feet per second (about 982 miles per hour) every second has the potential to do a considerable amount of damage for a considerable distance behind the airplane. Try standing behind one of these with a catcher's mitt and you will learn a great deal.
And a 727 has three of these engines. The speed of the airflow is still over 500 mph 100' behind the airplane.
That 747 has four JT-9s, a considerably larger engine and one that puts out thrust in the 50,000 Lb range. The amount of air moved is vastly greater and the effects described above are also vastly greater.
I will bet that at least some of those seen being blown into the bay in that video were injured to some degree or other.

When I was flying in there the fence and safety rails were improvements to be put in at some future time and one could walk on the runway if one was of a mind to.
