On May 16th 1943, 617 Sqdn Royal Air Force left RAF Scampton to attack the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe Dams in order to wreak havoc with Germany's War Effort and Industry in the Ruhr Valley.
Eight of 19 617 Lancasters were lost in the endeavour and the Sortie and its resulting crew losses left an indelible mark on Barnes Wallis.
Operation "Chastise" has gone into history for various reasons but we should remember the effort and the costs of it forever.....
This is the sixty-third anniversary of that raid.
