I have a Goldberg Gentle Lady Glider and I've flown it, using a High Start & then using a Cox TD .051 mounted on a pod & then mounted on the nose.
What I would like to know is how to go electric & if anyone has tried this conversion? The Glider fies great and I think it would work well as an electric motor powered plane? Any help out there would be most appreciated.
Where I fly my glider, no I.C. Motor's are now permitted, because of the noise & possible fire conditions, that exist in the area, of that County Open Space, surrounded by homes, and natural growth, that is left untouched, because of green regulations, now being enforced to protect the birds & bees etc.
;D I have received some helpful advise, and so now I'm going with, an E-flite 480 Motor & a 35 amp. ESP & a 2250 3c - 40e Battery & a 11" folding prop. After a few flights I'll either go larger or smaller on the Battery size & prop size & motor.
I've got a few flights in, and have completed some modifications to reduce weight. The original idea of using an E-flite 480 Motor & a 35 amp. ESP & a 2250 3c - 40e Battery & a 11" folding prop. was on the heavy & overpowering side of performance. I've downsized to a E-flite 450 & a 25 amp. ESP & a 1500 25c batt. & 9" folding Prop.
After a few flightswith the current system, the Electric Gentle Lady flys just great! The earlier Electric Conversion almost split the wing in two!? I had to remove the center monocote covering and re-enforce the center wing section with a coat of fibre glas coth and epoxy. worked out perfectly. thanks for those who had advice to share
