what's everybody building/fixing this winter? My last summer really sucked and I didn't get out much. I'll likely have to use the instructor next time I use realflight Anyhow, my new years resolution was to put a proper fleet together and go out strong this year. I want to hammer those clowns in the GTA I think I'll go with a fleet of downspout/ foam wings for open B, and maybe put together a fleet of Hurricanes for 2610. I don't have the time/money to put into SSC or 2548. besides, if it's not going 100mph it not's going! I do have 2 15's so maybe I'll piddle a bit. News on WWI combat here in Canada. Crosscheck has just announced a competition. There will be 3 planes (maybe even up to an austounding number of 4 ) planes in the air at once!!!! with the reasoning being to reduce midairs. Since we have a small club, having 4 planes up is a really good day. Here are some observations: 2 planes up, Thunder and I midair. 3 planes up, Thunder and I midair. 4 planes up, Thunder and I midair. so, really, 1-3 planes is the most effective way to have a midair, as there are less targets, you have to be far more aggressive. Again, good job to the MAAC combat committees

Patch, competition seems to be a bit thin. It looks like you will be the Canadian national points champ again this year. ;D Must be the scary impact of three planes in the air at once. Then there is the added strain of trying to avoid ungentlemanly conduct, (not to mention contact) whilst politely nipping (although not in an unseemly manner) at the streamers of your fellow Knights Of The Air. --- And the crowd swoons with excitement. Try to contain your enthusiasm. I'm building a Florio 60 FF, a TF 1/7 scale Spitfire, a couple of those ungentlemanly Blue Movies & a tractor-pusher flying wing thingy (a bigger, & much meaner Gremlin From Hell). I'm re-building my Unionville 6' Beaver (making it more scale-like) & tweaking my Smith Miniplane bipe (more power). The other birds (Seamaster, Superdupersuperstar & Florio 40 FF) are hot-to-trot already. I have "retired" my Ultra Sport Blackhorse Spit Gremlin From Hell & a another couple of those vicious Blue Movies

there was only one official Open B competition, and most of the "other" group wouldn't attend because it was RCCA sanctioned and there would be those nasty, cheating Americans there I only placed 7th overall, getting my butt whooped by the RCCA guys, but I did place first in the CNPS. both in events leader, and points leader (because there was only 1 competition) normally I'd say big deal being MAAC open B champ, except, first place for each catagory is an 25 O.S. FX....so....I get two! ;D ;D Maybe trying to eliminate the American competition was a good idea after all! kidding guys, I'd rather fly with you anytime

Hey Patch, wot's this I see that MAAC instructed the Cobble Hills flyers to declare their membership "Full" so you couldn't join! Hope you got on their waiting list. Looks like the games never end - too bad! What's going on at Strathroy? Thought Thunder was coming back this year?

Pat, unfortunately it's no rumour - here is Patch's post off RC Canada:: "Unfortunately, the MAAC scale combat chair has informed me that upon consultation from Cobble Hills president he has been advised to let me know that the membership is full. That's too bad. I was really hoping that old political disagreements could be bygones, and that everyone could just move on and fly. I would sure appreciate a call from the cobble hills president to discuss this.

Cobble Hills Flyers are in London, ON., not too far from Strathroy - probably Patch's closest club other than his home field. Let's not start another war - they're not worth the effort and, with the current MAAC Combat Committee, we know the rules will get "adjusted" to suit them anyway! Remember, this is the bunch that would not agree to sanction an SSC event last year - you know, slower with less damage! I still struggle rationalising that with their intent to reduce airplane losses due to mid-airs! Leave them all to their "Fairy" combat.

They can dance around the Maypole forever in their tutu's, but what becomes of combat fliers like our lad Patch? This is a spitefull act, and serves no purpose other than to demonstrate the pathetic state of the combat "fraternity" in Canada -- with active help from our "national" organization, no less. Pretty sad stuff -- it makes my blood boil.
I guess the Patchster (& maybe Thunder) will have to go & kick some Yankee butt for entertainment. Either that or become a sport flier.

here's the official e-mail from Scale Combat Chair/Cobble hills exec Ted Banks "Jason After consulting with the President of the Cobble Hills Club I have been advised inform you that the membership is full. " doesn't even sign it, talk about a cold message. On the bright side, it's not like I was shocked or surprised. Oh yeah, the same guy who is supposed to promote combat in Canada

Patch old son, I told your momma that you would be trouble some day -- you just can't keep out of it. Maybe you need a new diversion -- start your campaign to become the next MAAC Pres. You could negotiate a peace accord with Dennis, Ted & Dave. Kind of like the Israeli - Palestinian thing, or the Ulster - Irish Republican "peace". You are obviously a thwarted diplomat (your momma always said that) & this flying stuff is not really your thing (just ask uncle Keith). I'll be behind ya son. Dad

"start your campaign to become the next MAAC Pres"
What?! After what they did to the last one? He was at least twice as nice as me! I'd be burnt at the stake!
"You could negotiate a peace accord with Dennis, Ted & Dave. Kind of like the Israeli - Palestinian thing"
I'm sure we'll see Israeli's marrying Palestinian's long before any of us could negotiate with these people.
