Thinking of installing a powerpod on a Windsurfer 2Metre Sailplane instead of a towline or hi-start. What size of engine should I be considering given that there will be no throttle and a short engine run just to get it up there?

A Bridi Windsurfer, right?
Cox .049 or Norvel .049 or Norvel .061 will do the job for you.
1. You can use any of the Cox .049's that have their own integral fuel tank.
2. Cox also makes a pod mount that itself is a fuel tank for TD .049's and TD .051's. (Cox Part #2440)
3. Norvel makes an integral fuel tank/mount on which you can mount a Norvel .049 or .061. These engines come in throttled and non-throttled.
The Norvels will give you more power but are more expensive than the Cox engines (non-TD).
