Aww, Chris, what you're talking about sounds a lot like WORK!! Still waiting for the weather to clear for a first flight. The temps are just fine, but it's been raining for about three weeks and our field is just a huge mud pit right now....

So, when do we get a flight report?
If it wasn't so darn windy, it would be flying season here. Good weather for kites!

Chris, in between the on again, off again weather here and the springtime honeydos, I haven't had a chance to do ANY flying. This bird is too big for the schoolyard, and last time I went to the flying field, it was partially submerged from all the recent rain. I haven't flown in so long, I'll probably do a few weeks with my old faithful Astro Hawg before I try any maiden flights on anything! I'm on vacation next week, and there had better be some flying in there somewhere.....

Jaime, what happened? Does/did it fly? ;D Airborne pics? Funeral pics? You've been pretty quiet about it

Patrick, sorry to be so long in responding here, have had a wedding and a ton of house rework going on and the flying has taken a back seat lately.
The first flight attempt was less than successful. With the 7x4 props, she didn't develop enough thrust to ROG from our grass field. Got a good fast taxi, but not enough speed to fly. Too much prop for the motors, I think. As expected, the lack of tailwheel steering is a pain, though there is enough rudder to compensate. I'm not too crazy about trying to hand launch this model, so a prop change and larger wheels are in order before I try again.
There may be a radio change as well, so I can free up the 4 channel radio in it now for my son David's airplane. I have a new 6 channel Futaba computer radio begging for something to do...

Jaime, I'm guessing that you ended up less than thrilled with the airplane. But I'm thinking if you cycle the batteries a time or two you might end up with enough thrust to do the job.

Actually Chris, I think I need to prop it down a bit, either to the stock 5x4's or 6x4 electrics. The wheels may still be a bit to small for grass, but if I go much bigger, they don't fit and they look funny as well. Hand launching is an option I'll use as last resort. I still like the airplane, just want to have a reasonable chance of a successful flight. I've discovered that a lot of stock E-systems are marginal at best for any given model, though they are getting better.
What I'm waiting for now is the summer to be over. Flying in the heat and humidity here is no longer fun, so I think I'll build in the summer and fly in winter!

That's me too. At 8000 feet, summer flying is marginal, and also it's really windy. Best flying seems to be between Thanksgiving and Valentines day. Bloody cold, but lots of air in the air.
