Hello,
I'm in the process of building the F9F-3KD Panther target drone. I obtained a plastic kit made by company called HAWK. It has a red fuselage and yellow wings.
I was hoping for some good scale info but no luck. Does anyone know what colors were used on these types of aircraft.
Also I'm trying to locate a book called "official monogram US NAVY & Marine corps aircraft color guide vol 3 1950 to 1959 by John m Elliott "
I tried a few searches with no luck. Any idea where I can get this book?

Look! Someone posted something in the model airplane section!! ;D Welcome to the board. Don't let the skeeter pond scare you off, there really are some good modelers here. As to your questions..I've never seen an F9F with the red fuselage like that one, the target tugs had dark blue fuselages with yellow wings and red or orange tails. I didn't find anything in my stuff, but someone else might have something for you. You can also check these sites: www.hyperscale.comThere is a forum here where you can post questions. www.modelingmadness.comForum here as well. www.internetmodeler.comThese are all plastic model sites and many of the guys there are pretty decent and will be happy to help you out. The Naval Air Museum in Pensacola might give you some info, if you ask nicely!

That was "drone" Jaime, not "tug".

I guess that was a little confusing Patrick, I think I was referring to an alternate, yet similar scheme. I've slept since then......
