After our flying today, we stopped in at my friend Jim's shop. Jim is San Luis Valley Aircraft Refurbishers, one of the best ragwing rebuilders around. He specializes in Bellanca and American Champion. He rebuilds Scouts, Champs, and Citabrias, the occasional Cub and I've also seen a 2-33 in his shop.
Champs have spruce spars and he had recently rebuilt one which had ground looped badly resulting in damage to both wing spars. So now I am the owner of a couple of nice long, straight, knot free, close grained aircraft grade spruce.
I don't know what I am going to do with it, but I was thinking of maybe building a 2X sized Kadet and powering it with the motor from my chain saw which I have not used in 5 years.
Whattaya thinK?
