2014 CHARLIE MELANCON MEMORIAL C/L STUNT CHAMPIONSHIP

Independence Park, Baton Rouge, LA - October 18 and 19, 2014
Baton Rouge Bi-Liners and Andy Chase's Hobby Towne are hosting/sponsoring the Charlie Melancon Memorial C/L Stunt Championship at Independence Park in Baton Rouge, La. on October 18th and 19th, 2014. The flying fields are located on the immediate east side of the Liberty Lagoon Water Park, 111 Lobdell Ave., B.R., LA 70806. This contest is AMA-sanctioned (1565), and supported by the Baton Rouge Recreation Park system. We have two competition circles. They will be available for practice on Friday, October 17th.
** "AMA LINE RULES/SAFETY RULES" apply for all events. AMA license required- Membership/license forms available at registration. AMA (322-326) FOR PROFILE AND P.A. EVENTS.
Registration: Saturday and Sunday, 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. We encourage all fliers to be present to register by 8:30 a.m. Cost: $15.00 (1 event). Each additional event will be $5.00 ($25.00 maximum for all events).
Pilots Meeting - SATURDAY at 8:30 AM – Competition begins at 9:15 AM.
Pilots Meeting - SUNDAY at 8:30 AM - Competition begins at 8:45 AM.
Saturday's Events:
PROFILE STUNT - (Engine size up to max allowed, AMA .92)-Pipes allowed- (B,I,A,&E) classes/1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
No appearance points.
CLASSIC STUNT/N-30 - PAMPA RULES – Open event- no skill classes - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place - Appearance points if the builder.
OLD TIME STUNT- DMAA RULES – open event- No appearance points
WARBIRD STUNT - Rules and guidelines as follows:
o War Birds must be readily recognizable for the airplane they represent.
o Modified nonmilitary aircraft made to loosely resemble military aircraft will not be allowed (i.e., modified, Twister, Veco Chief, Ring Master, etc.)
o May be Profile or Built-up fuses.
o Aircraft must have military finishes, or finishes that depict their mission. No air-racing finishes, or fancy air show paint schemes allowed. Paint schemes of military demonstration aircraft will be allowed.
o There will be appearance points awarded if the builder.
o Contestants will fly the modern stunt pattern.
o This will be an open event - no skill classes.
o There will be an award for the BEST WARBIRD- Based on the likeness to the aircraft it represents, and fit/finish. Contestant must be the BOM. The judges and CD will decide the winner.
o Stunt Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
o The purpose of the event is to have aircraft that represent the military theme for the sake of honoring the men who flew them, the hard working men who maintained them, the men who designed them, and the men and women who built them.
Saturday night supper at Don’s Seafood and Steak Restaurant for those who want to go. (We will have a private room reserved). No charge for rm.
Sunday's Event:
PRECISION AEROBATICS - (PAMPA)- (B,I,A,& E)- (BOM-for appearance points only) - Non BOM can compete - ARF's -(0-8 pt's) - ARC'S, Arc’s/ARF'S Modified- refinished (5-15pts.) 1,2,3 places awarded. Short raffle immediately after awards presentation.
Special Events/Awards:
o Concours/Pilots’ Choice Award - (Sunday) Any plane flown or that will be flown during weekend is eligible. Only one plane can be entered by each pilot to be voted on. Must be Builder of the Model.
o Top Gun – (Sunday) Awarded to the pilot finishing highest in events for the weekend. Must be entered in at least two events.
Spirit of '52 and Spirit of '64
o Raffle after events/awards.
Miscellaneous:
o Ice cold drinks and bottled water will be provided free of charge for everyone. We will have lunch for everyone on Sat. at noon
o There will be some outstanding raffle prizes as usual, including kits, engines, model accessories, fuel, etc. Raffle items are provided by the B.R. Bi-Liners along with the help of Andy Chase from Hobby Towne who gives the contest super support.
o We encourage others who attend the contest to bring anything they might want to part with to donate to the raffle or give to someone. We will also have a table set up for those who want to sell and/or swap. There will be raffles on Saturday and Sunday so that people may leave earlier on Sunday.
