Tony, here.
"Here" being Whitemarsh Island (Savannah) GA, USA.
A MILLION years ago I was a control line geek. Long time ago.
Was thinking of getting (back) into that. Idea being a simple "profile" plane ... do they still make the "Ringmaster"? "U-Reely"?
Anyway, is there an active group in my area (A/C 31410)? So I can get some hands-on scoop? Make my dinero go furthest ...
Anyone?
Anyone?

With the demise of Sterling, there are a couple of cottage industry type kitmakers making the Ringmaster. The kit is slightly different from the sterling kit. The price is around $87.99 now. Your best bet is brodak.com for kits. The group to visit is the "brotherhood of the ring" for an amazing number of Ringmaster variants. www.brotherhoodofthering.info/mbbs22/category-view.aspIf you can build from plans, there are a lot of plans available. Since I am in Miami, I can't help you on flyers in Ga. I do know there is a lot of activity in Georgia. The U-reely is generally considered unsafe to use today because of the early models clutch slipping and having no safety lock. Tough to beat an ARF Flite Streak. Not pricey and in the quick. Tower sells them. The Brodak line of ARF-s has some decent stuff. Super Clown for one.

I have an ARFstreak. The first thing I did to it was break the nose off. Then the engine mounts began crushing.

Garf, it has been awhile since I have logged on. Good to see some new blood coming in on all the forums. Yes the Ringmaster is still the plane even tho most would recommend the Flite Streak. If you like to build Eric at RSM Dist has quite a few kits to choose from as well as Brodak Mfg. There are some guys around the Atlanta GA area but I don't how far that is from the new guy. Now if you want a top of the line kit check out Walter Umland's site, builtrightflyright.
Garf, has his master link list that should keep a person busy for days.
