The profile NoblARF is flying, needs trimming, the NoblARF #2 is flying, also needs trimming. It is just about time to start NoblARF #3. This one is going to get a Fox 35 stunt built up with a 60th anniversary case, a plasma P&C from Tony Cincotta, and a Fox Super Stunt NVA. Should prove interesting. At least it won't need as much tail weight.

Right now it looks like the Fox Super Stunt NVA won't work in this thing because of close clearances. I may go with the Randy Smith custom NVA. I will reinforce the Firewall/motor mount area, but not to the extent of the NoblARF #2.

I'm getting ready to install the tank I made for the NoblARF #3. I keep making slight changes (improvements) to the installation. The tank started out as a Kap-Pak Rectank, and was modified to a steel clunk tank using the clunk out of the included plastic tank.

The tank fits perfectly in the compartment and holds 5 1/4 oz.

The tank compartment is closed, and I am in the process of hinging the flaps. The engine mounting holes have been drilled. UPDATE: The flap hinging is complete. They work very freely. I have the preliminary throw adjustment done.

Awful lot of fuel for a Fox Stunt.

The tank is a steel clunk, which means that I can safely short tank it at will. I bought a lot of the particular tank from Ebay, so that is what I will use for now. I still need to refine the venting a little.

The Dave Brown pushrod is done and the plane dry assembled to check adjustment. It looks pretty close.

The wing is installed, the stab/elevators are going in now. The method of installation I used for the rudder on #2 worked well enough that I am going to do the same thing on #3.

#3 is almost complete. The gear is in, the rudder is on, the engine has been installed using the Super Stunt NVA for now. It will be test flown with no cowling.

I test ran the engine today. It has enough power, but is not as smooth as I would like to see it. It should improve with some running.

Test flew it last Sunday. Flew 3 laps, then quit. Turned out the tank was contaminated and made short work of the small filter I used. Back at the shop, I replaced the Fox Super Stunt NVA with a Randy Smith custom unit. Than I installed a 1/4 scale filter. A test run revealed a fuel leak. After replacing the bad line, I ran it again. No more problem. I need to run it again, then clean the filter, then maybe it will complete a flight. Not very pretty without the cowling installed. UPDATE: I ran it again and cleaned the filter. It was full of garbage. Hopefully I can get a couple of flights out of it before it stops up again.

Test flew it again today. This time I got a full test flight. It has enough power. The outboard tip is low in upright flight and high in inverted flight. It feels like it has enough tip weight. I need to tweak the flaps.

The flaps have been tweaked. I went ahead and changed the plug. The old one looked terrible.

It ran slightly better, but I still put it in inverted. Broken prop and rudder.

Damaged rudder has been rebuilt and is awaiting covering. All that will remain is to reattach the rudder to the model. I'm going to use a smaller prop and see what happens. UPDATE: The rudder has been covered and installed. Tomorrow I need to run the NoblARF #2 & #3. UPDATE: Never got around to running the engines.

I tried an XOAR 10-5E prop. Good power, seems a little erratic. Swapped for a Top Flite Super M 10-5. A little more stable, plenty of pull.

The engine agrees with high oil fuel. It still wants to rev. Might need more pitch.

Before I do an engine change, I will try a MA 11-5 prop and see what happens.
