There was a group including Orestes Hernandes flying at FIU early sunday mornings. I haven't been there for a while. I have been flying at Markham Park for a few months. There is a rumor of an R/C club at Homestead Speedway that will be including C/L later on. Haven't followed up on that yet. Where are you?

It's quite some distance. The city of Sunrise is about 30 miles from Miami.

I connected with an old retired flying buddy from Miami and went flying today. Almost roasted out there in 2 hours. Destroyed the Bassmaster. Most likely won't rebuild it. Pancake crash on the Tutor 2. Broken prop. Test flew 2 slow combat models I recently acquired. Needs some trim work.

Looks like the Bassmaster crash was worse than it looked. Both of the engine lugs on the case broke.

The old engines used to have a lot more trouble with that in days gone by, and aluminum mounting bolts were what we used, but had to keep changing all of the time, they were so soft, but they would bend / break, and save the old engines. I liked using brass screws, which still broke more easily than the mount lugs did, but did remain usable a lot longer than the aluminum ones did, between crashes.

I need to see if Scott Dinger is still doing welding.

I went out today to test the PT-19. Not enough power. The McCoy 35 I mounted on it was low time and low compression. It still ran fairly well, but not enough power, SO, I'll put a ST 46 in its place. The Vess 11-4 didn't work out and was destroyed.

I give up. "Vess 11-4" is what? Some prop from overseas somewhere?

My flying partner was busy Sunday, and Markham park had the Jerk Festival, so we flew at Tamiami Park on Saturday. No crashes, engines wouldn't cooperate very well. When you flood the OS 35S with ABC conversion, it binds up very badly. I need to be careful with this thing. The engine screws loosened up on the PT-19. I didn't expect that.

Flew at Tamiami Park today due to the Bikers toy run taking over Markham Park. I managed to plant the Stretched Galaxy inverted due to loss of line tension and the inability to turn tightly enough to pull out. Removed the entire tail group. Put up 1 flight on a stunt model I bought at the R/C flea market last time out. I did just enough work on it to make it safe to fly in order to feel it out. Perfect engine run. Model is close coupled compared to what I'm used to. Still, I liked it. Now for a full restoration. I put up 1 flight on a Flite Streak I also got at the same time. One flap is severely warped and the controls were biased down. I need to do some surgery on this one.

I flew at Tamiami park today because my partner that lives near Markham park reported rain, and it was not raining here. I put up a flight on the Tutor 2/Fox 40 that went well. I then put up 3 flights on the Fronkensteen 4/OS 35S-ABC. The first was too rich, the second too lean, the third was just right. All 3 flights had the needle within 1/4 turn of the other.

Due to a bike race at Markham Park, we flew at Tamiami Park today. I put up 3 flights on the Galaxy/Johnson Stunt Supreme. It would not hold a setting. The plane was stable, but would turn fairly well when pushed. Time for another engine change.

I went out again Sunday and put up a few more flights. I wrecked the Galaxy again due to a bad setting. I flew the Shoestring and clipped the ground breaking off a prop blade, but it kept running for 1/2 lap. Then I flew the Jr Satan clone. It did fairly well.
